Adult Winter Tuesday Morning Ski Group at Hyland
Dates: December 5th – February 20th, no practice 12/19 and 12/26.
Technique: Mixed skate/classic
Description: The Minneapolis Ski Club will have a program for beginners and intermediates at Hyland Visitor Center beginning on December 12th. If they are not open for skiing by the 5th, we do dryland drills and go over the techniques. Some running, strength and drills to stay warm. The sessions will include technique, sprints, drills and intervals. There will be 2 sessions in December 5th, 12th No sessions on December 19th & 26th. In January we meet the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th. In February we meet the 6th, 13th and finish on the 20th.The class will end on February 20th. If it is too cold- Too cold is -15 wind chill or -1 air temp at 5:00AM. I send text to cancel if it is too cold or too much snow on the road by 5:45AM if the weather is brutal. There is technique instruction, drills and some intervals for those who are racing this winter at this session. Classes usually have about 8 people and are limited to 10. We have not had to cancel any Tuesdays because of snow yet but a couple due to the cold. Sessions will be directed by Kevin Brochman an Olympic Coach and an Olympian. All aspects of skating will be worked on, if you need help with classic Kevin can give you personal lessons from 8:15-8:45Pm on Thursdays. Video will also be used a couple of times during the class. Adults and Top High School Winter, Wednesday Advanced

Dates: December 6th -February 7th No practice 12/20 & 27th.

Technique: Mixed skate/classic, this program is great for classic skiers as I use classic every other time.
This is for adults who are wave 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. High school skiers may also find this session great for some technique tips. Technique and intervals will be the focus. This if for skiers who want personal bests or older skiers who just to turn back the clock and ski like they were 10 years younger. There will be a strength session, skiing with out poles, double pole and single pole. Then some technique and then some sprints and intervals. This is a great session with lots of fun and laughs. Sessions will begin when there is snow at Hyland, usually around Thursday the 6th but if the cold air comes earlier we will start earlier. Approximate dates December 6th -February 7th. Ten sessions, we do cancel if the windchill is below -19 or the air temp is below 0 at 4:00PM. If I cancel I will send you an email and at text. The goal for the people in this program is to ski hard, have fun and improve on both technique and fitness. Most people do skate but some classic and the intervals are for both classic skiers get a bigger head start on the intervals. Adult Winter Thursday Evening Ski Group at Hyland

Dates: December 7th – February 8th, no practice 12/21 and February 1st.
Description: The Minneapolis Ski Club will have a program for beginners and intermediates at Hyland beginning on December 7th. and ending February 8th. Sessions consist of all skate techniques, with drills, sprints, intervals and agility. The program will end on February 8th. In the event that it is too cold we will cancel and notify you by email and a text. Too cold is -15 wind chill or -1 air temp at 4:00PM. Sessions will be directed by Kevin Brochman an Olympic Coach and an Olympian. All aspects of skating will be worked. This session will have two coaches for more advanced skiers and for beginners. Coaches usually rotate at bit to work on different things. So if you a beginner this session is great. If your getting ready for a long race and are wave 4 or higher this is also a great session. Fall Programs for Adults and High School are up
High School Programs will begin on September 6th on Wednesday evening by Riverside Park from 6-7:15PM and on Sundays at Elm Creek and Wabun Park in Mpls. from 3:30-5PM. They will alternate from skate to classic to skate. Keep your technique going in the right direction and sign up today. Sessions will go 9 weeks and end at the end of November 1st.
Adult program will begin after Labor Day. Adults will begin on Thursday night September 7th, all sessions will by dryland meaning no rollerskiing with this group. Each session will have some strength, technique and about 5km of running on some nights. There are lights so we can train when we lose day light in October.
For those who do rollerski, you are welcome to join us on Wednesdays for some hill intervals from 6-7:15PM.
Adult Clinic October 29th at 2:30PM.
Get two different ideas on how you can improve your technique and training from Olympic Skier and Coach Kevin Brochman and Mora Vasa Champion Alice Flanders. The clinic will be at Wabun Park by the Veterans Home and the Ford Parkway Bridge. Park on top by the Water Park. The clinic will be for skating and is for all ages who wish to get better at roller skiing. The cost is just $35. Everyone attending will get video help. Everyone is also invited to join in on our regular roller ski with distances of 10km or 20km from 3:30-5:30PM.

Minneapolis Ski Club
The Minneapolis Ski Club has helped athletes compete at every level from beginner to the Olympics. MSC offers every level of training: development, intermediate, advanced to elite level skiers. This program began in 1992 and had continue for 25 years. During the process it is the only club to have coached a high school athlete to the Olympics. In the past 15 years, 6 skiers have been the fastest high school skiers in the Country. 2 College athletes have gone on to become NCAA Champions and several have become Olympians. All of this began with skiers who learned how to train better, ski better and work harder at becoming athletes. We welcome anyone who wishes to learn, improve and enjoy ski training. This program welcomes skiers who are just learning how and want to learn more about how to ski with more efficiently and just have fun.
