These events take place throughout the season and consist of a series of races held on weekends. The race formats vary, with each weekend typically featuring two races of different styles, including both skate and classic skiing. The races are crucial as they serve as a pathway for athletes to qualify for Junior Nationals and other prestigious trips. Additionally, these events provide valuable racing experience for skiers at all levels, from aspiring newcomers to seasoned competitors. They offer an opportunity for skiers to showcase their skills and further develop their abilities on the racecourse.

These races are through club teams such as MSC rather than High School Nordic teams. This has various requirements such as a club racing suit, ski waxing, and additional coaching. If you sign up for MSC JNQ support this can include waxing and added coaching which is massively helpful on race day to get strategy input.

Points are accumulated throughout the JNQ Racing Series and athletes are ranked based on their best 4 of 8 races in their age groups (U16, U18, and U20 based on your age on December 31, 2023). If you rank among the top 9-15 athletes in your age group according to USSA, you have the opportunity to qualify for this year's Junior National races held in March. Depending on the year, there are additional CXC Teams you can qualify for providing athletes with valuable racing experiences in various regions across the country. 

Sign up for all of the JNQ races on the CXC Website. Additionally, all JNQ racers should purchase a USSA Membership which allows you to become nationally ranked as well as receive USSA points for each JNQ race which start at 990.00 and lower depending on race results.  CXC Competitors licenses are included in the USSA Membership. 

If you are 18 years or older, you will be required to complete a SafeSport Training and a background check, and you will be unable to step on the start line until those are both completed and your membership is approved. This process can take up to 3 weeks so it is important to be on top of this.
